Break Cue or no Break Cue?

The massive discussion point around pool on whether a break cue is  A – useful and B – whether it truly makes a difference? You can get some outstanding cues custom made, no doubt about that however how beneficial are break cues. See below a few good pointers on why a pool player should purchase a break cue.

  • Light weight – Enables faster acceleration to be achieved equalling more velocity when striking the cue ball.
  • Forward balanced – More even spread of weight rather than the pendulum effect with a butt heavy cue.
  • The mental preparation of using a different cue for the break, thus taking the break off shot more seriously. Its the equivalent of giving yourself a mini prep talk before each frame. After all, the break shot is the most important shot!!!
  • Saves breaking with your playing cue which can damage your tip or worse still, break the ferrule of your playing cue.

Everyone has a different opinion on the break cue and I have heard many comments saying well it’s just a cue and that all are the same, what difference can a lighter cue make. Add to the debate and send us your comments.
